The Grid

The Grid is a performance at the intersection of choreography, installation, and electronic music. Sixteen moving light columns and a dancer engage in a hypnotic dialogue between human and machine. When the machine stops being a tool and becomes — or controls — the environment we move within, where does its choreography end, and where does ours begin?

The work serves as a metaphor for the invisible "grids" we inhabit: the digital algorithms that curate our lives, or even the societal expectations that organize our behavior. As movement threads its way through, the rigid framework begin to soften, rippling into waves. The space turns fluid, porous. This dancer doesn’t just enter this grid; he redefines it into a symbiotic ecosystem where you don’t get lost, but find your own way.

The Grid is a collaboration with audiovisual artists Victor Dissel and Bram van Ravenhorst. The installation is also presented independently as a continuous audiovisual landscape.
